This dual purpose field/anti-tank gun entered service in 1944.   The weapon combined the Pak 40 barrel with the carriage of the le FH 18/40, allowing higher angles of fire than the standard Pak 40.  This increased the range of high explosive fire by around 50%, to over 10,000m, whilst retaining the excellent armour penetration capability of the Pak 40.
