Designed as a dual-purpose weapon for use against both aircraft and ground targets, the Canone-Mitragliera da 20/65 modelo 35 (Breda) entered service with the Italian Army in 1935. It was mounted on a complicated two-wheeled carraige and normally towed behind a truck.
When deployed (as modelled here) the tripod platform was a stable base for firing and the gun was very successful against aircraft. The Germans also used the weapon in North Africa and after the Italian Armistice in 1943, used confiscated examples in Italy and on the Eastern Front. Kit includes four (Italian) crew.
