This vehicle represents one of the many improvised self-propelled mounts pressed into service towards the end of the war and saw the 3cm Flak 103/38 mounted on the load bed of the Steyr 1500 4 x 4 Light Truck. The troops called the combination "Jaboschreck" - fighter-bomber killer.
The Flak 103/38 was developed in mid-1944 in an effort to provide more help to try and combat the increased threat of ground attack aircraft, following the Normandy invasion. It combined the 3cm MK103 aircraft cannon with the 2cm Flak 38 carriage. It was not a particularly successful weapon as the MK 103 was far more powerful than the Flak 38 causing stresses that the carriage was not designed to take - leading to frequent breakdowns.
The Flak 103/38 is available as a seperate kit in GUNpak G10.
